MY REVIEW
This is the first book in The Drake Chronicles. It was an OK book, I liked it but I also felt it could have been so much better. It's a pretty fast paced book,I read it in less than a day. Solange and Lucy are best friends, only that Solange is the first female offspring of an ancient vampire family and Lucy is a human. Solange has to be careful because she's starting to give off a pheromone that makes male vampires want her. And now that's she's about to turn 16 and into a full fledged vampire, the head female vampire Lady Natasha wants her dead so she doesn't fulfill the phophecy and take the throne. Lucy and Solange's older brother Nicholas, have always picked at each other and fought. Now Lucy has new and strange feelings towards him and can't help but think he feels the same way. One night a Helios-Ra agent(vampire hunter),Kieran, tries to kill Solange and a bounty is put up for her death. Her parents are furious and try to get to the bottom of it,but one night when they are gone Solange is called to meet with Lady Natasha. Her and some of her brothers go only to be ambushed later by vampires and rogue Helios-Ra angents. Soon she is freed by Kieran and they are on the run.Lucy and her Solange's family are worried because in two days Solange will be 16 and without the blood of one of her family member she will die. Most people will like this book, especially people who love romance and vampire books.

Generation Dead by Daniel Waters

Author: Daniel Waters
Reading level: Young Adult
Publisher: Hyperion Book CH

Rated 9/10

Phoebe is just your typical goth girl with a crush. He's strong and silent.and dead.
All over the country, a strange phenomenon is happening. Some teenagers who die aren't staying dead. They are coming back to life, but they are no longer the same-they stutter, and their reactions to everything are slower. Termed "living impaired" or "differently biotic," they are doing their best to fit into a society that doesn't want them.

Fitting in is hard enough when you don't have the look or attitude, but when almost everyone else is alive and you're not, it's close to impossible. The kids at Oakvale High don't want to take classes or eat in the cafeteria next to someone who isn't breathing. And there are no laws that exist to protect the differently biotic from the people who want them to disappear-for good.

With her pale skin and Goth wardrobe, Phoebe has never run with the popular crowd. But no one can believe it when she falls for Tommy Williams, the leader of the dead kids. Not her best friend, Margi, whose fear of the differently biotic is deeply rooted in guilt over the past. And especially not her neighbor, Adam, the star of the football team. Adam has just realized his feelings for Phoebe run much deeper than just friendship. He would do anything for her, but what if protecting Tommy is the one thing that would make her happy?

MY REVIEW
Awesome book,I enjoyed every minute of reading it, and couldn't put it down from the beginning until the end. Now I really can't wait to read the next book. Most people are gonna love this book, I just didn't like the ending though,it was too sad for me  :( .Phoebe is a goth chick who lives in a world where dead teenagers come back to life after they have died. Nobody knows why or why it's just teenagers in America(they are called the living impaired aka zombies which is a name called out of hatred towards them). Adam is Phoebe's best friend and neighbor,he's had a crush on Phoebe for the longest time. Pete is the local football star and bigshot at school,he has a hatred for the living impaired and decides there needs to be something done to get rid of them all and the people who are friends with them. Phoebe starts to fall for Tommy, an undead boy, and they quickly becomes friends. Adam who will do anything for Phoebe accepts him as well as a friend. They all join a  group for the living impaired who fight for their rights and tries to explain the living impaired and their biology. There are no rights for the living impaired and people all America are killing them because of their hatred for them. Now someone at school is trying to kill them as well.

Then a devastating tornado hits the town of Howell, and Miranda makes a decision that will change their lives forever.

MY REVIEW
This is the companion novel to Life As We Knew It and The Dead & The Gone. I really liked it, it was an awesome book and tied everything together from the other books. I was kinda sad with the way it ended though knowing what happened. Hopefully there will be another book, you never know. The only thing I didn't like is we only got to see everything from Miranda's point of view and nothing from Alex's. It would have been nice to see from both of theirs, she could have switched back and forth between each chapter between the two. The story is told through Miranda's eyes,it's been a year since a meteor hit the moon knocking it out of it's orbit, bringing it closer to Earth, and changing life as we know it on earth. Miranda has kept hope her father is still alive, one day he happens to show up with his wife and their infant son and has also brought 3 more people, Alex and Julie(from The Dead & the Gone) and Charlie. At first Miranda and Alex don't get a long too well but soon they are head over heels for each other. Miranda is afraid of the future and Alex teaches her there is always gonna be a tomorrow, she should live for it, and she shouldn't give up hope. Alex is always worried about Julie and finding a safe place for her to stay,so he decides to leave. Miranda has offered to go with him until tragedy strike and changes hers and everyone elses life.

MY REVIEW
Awesome book, there wasn't one boring part in the entire book. This is the first book in the Uglies series and the fouth book I have read by Scott Westerfeld,he is an amazing author. Then one night Shay comes to Tally asking her to run away with her to a secret settlement(the Smoke) full of uglies(Smokies) who don't want to be pretties and live out in the middle of nowhere. Tally refuses to go with Shay, and on the day she is supposed to be turned pretty she is told that unless she can help lead the Specials(a pretty police with super human abilities) to the Smokies she will never be turned into a pretty and have to live her life out as an ugly. She is bugged using a necklace and makes her way to the Smoke, where she tells them a bunch of lies. Beastly by Alex Flinn

Author: Alex Flinn
Reading level: Young Adult
Publisher: HarperTeen

Rated 9/10

A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright – a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster.

You think I’m talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It’s no deformity, no disease. And I’ll stay this way forever – ruined – unless I can break the spell.

Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she urn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I’ll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly.

MY REVIEW
Awesome book, I really liked this book and the meaning behind the story. This is a modern Beauty and the Beast Story told through the beast. It teaches that looks aren't everything in life and that it only matters how you treat people in the end if you want to find true friends and love. The story starts out with Kyle being excited for being on the ballad for prince at his private school. He is confronted in front of students by Kendra, a girl he thinks is ugly and not even up to his standards, about how stupid it is to base anything on looks. She calls him beastly and it gets to him. He comes up with a plan to embarass Kendra by asking her to the dance and to diss her there in front of everyone, while he's with his real date Sloane. After the dance Kendra, who is really a witch, confronts Kyles and tells him that beauty doesn't matter and she turns him into a beast. Kyle has two years to find someone whom he loves and whom loves him back and kiss her. Kyle looks at it as impossible because of the way he looks. His father goes to every doctor to get him help and there is nothing they can do. His father finally dumps him in his own house and leaves the housekeeper in charge of his well being. Kyle gets a tutor named Will soon after, who happens to be blind. All hope seems lost to Kyle. Then one night a man tries to break into his house. Kyle confronts the man and tells him he has caught it all on tape. The man scared for his own well being and not wanting to go to jail offers Alex his daughter in exchange for his freedom. Soon the man's daughter Lindy is living there with with Kyle. They quickly become good friends but Kyle fears she will never love him and he will never break the curse.

I'm super excited to see the movie now!!!!!

Author: Laura Wiess
Reading level: Young Adult
Publisher: MTV

Rated 9/10

They promised Meredith nine years of safety, but only gave her three.
Her father was supposed to be locked up until Meredith turned eighteen. She thought she had time to grow up, get out, and start a new life. But Meredith is only fifteen, and today her father is coming home from prison.

Today her time has run out.
MY REVIEW
I liked this book but it made me really angry when reading it, knowing this happens in real life everyday. I wanted so bad to punch her mother in the face, yes I know she's just a character in a book but being a mother myself, it just pissed me off so much how she stuck up for the man who did that to her daughter. Fifteen year old Meredith has spent the last three years without her father because he raped her and other kids. Angry that the system has failed her,he was supposed to be in there til after she turned eighteen(nine years), she tries everything in her power she can think of to repel her father from her. Her tactics don't work so her neighbor, a retired police officer gives her some hidden cameras to put around her house to catch him in the act and hopefully put him away for good. Meanwhile she's dealing with her boyfriend(Andy) leaving for a few days. For the last year he's been her rock to keep her strong. They both share the hurt of being taken advantage of by her father and she thinks he might not come back because of her father being back. The book is fast paced and gets straight to point,it takes you into a world most of us would rather not go.

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME...
On the eve of her graduation from an exclusive private school, shy wallflower Semantha Heavenstone is caught in a whirl of scandal and betrayal. Now, she's returned to the grand Kentucky mansion where painful memories of her mother and her older sister, Cassie, are as potent as newly mown bluegrass. It seems no matter where she goes, Semantha is haunted by a voice from the grave — spiteful, domineering Cassie, whose taunts and manipulations seem as real as when she was alive.

...AND NO END TO THE NIGHTMARE

Soon her father will remarry, new memories — and a new stepmother — will replace the past...and Semantha herself has a chance at a bright future with a career inside the Heavenstone empire and handsome Ethan Hunter by her side. But someone will see to it that Semantha never forgets the tragedies of yesterday. Will Cassie's ghostly hold on Semantha destroy her hope and drive her to madness?
MY REVIEW
This is the second book in the Heavenstone series. It was trash plain and simple and I loved it,you should know by now any book written under the name V.C. Andrews is gonna be. That's also exactly why I read it,sometimes trashy is fun to read and I've already read the first book and was curious to what was gonna happen. There were some dull parts, not gonna lie, but anyone who likes V.C. Andrews books will probably like this one as well.Semantha has graduated high school and is dealing with her father remarrying a woman(Lucille) she just doesn't like, also dealing with her own romantic relationship with a guy(Ethan) she met while in school. Semantha also deals with the pain and lonliness she feels for giving her daughter up after the whole mess in the first book and is haunted by her dead sister Cassie. Soon she starts taking some of the advice Cassie's ghost is giving her and gets herself in a few messes while other times sticking up for herself and having more confidence in herself. It's a book full of more tragedy for the Heavenstone family.

Reading level: Young Adult
Publisher: Simon Pulse

Rated 8/10

Fourteen-year-old Sunny is stunned when a total stranger shows up at her house posing as her older sister Jazz, who supposedly died out of town in a fire months earlier.

MY REVIEW
I liked this book, it was fast paced, and short for those that don't like long books. It was a little scary though,I could never imagine losing someone in my family and then have someone coming to me claiming to be them. I would have loved to read more into Sunny's story, about what happens after she gets the letter at the end,for a minute towards the end I was beginning to think Sunny did it all herself. Sunny gets a letter in the mail one day addressed to her and her family supposedly from her dead sister Jazz. The letter had said there was a mistake and Jazz had never died in the apartment fire. Soon her mom and dad are getting ready for Jazz to return home, but when she does it isn't Jazz. Sunny and her dad can automatically tell it's not Jazz, but Sunny's mom is beside herself with happiness. I really liked this book. I'm not gonna lie it took me a lil while to get into it but when I did I couldn't put it down. The Dead-Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan

Rated 9/10

Gabry lives a quiet life. As safe a life as is possible in a town trapped between a forest and the ocean, in a world teeming with the dead, who constantly hunger for those still living. She's content on her side of the Barrier, happy to let her friends dream of the Dark City up the coast while she watches from the top of her lighthouse. But there are threats the Barrier cannot hold back. Threats like the secrets Gabry's mother thought she left behind when she escaped from the Sisterhood and the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Like the cult of religious zealots who worship the dead. Like the stranger from the forest who seems to know Gabry. And suddenly, everything is changing. One reckless moment, and half of Gabry's generation is dead, the other half imprisoned. Now Gabry only knows one thing: she must face the forest of her mother's past in order to save herself and the one she loves.

MY REVIEW
This is the companion novel to The Forests of Hands and Teeth. I really like this book, it was full of action,a lil romance and lots of zombies!!! I didn't like it as much as The Forests and Hands and Teeth(that's now one of my favorite books) but it's still a really good read. A night of Gabry and her friends going over the protection of the barrier and breaking the law results in the death and punishments of her friends. Gabry gets away and escapes punishment after the boy(Catcher) she likes is bitten by a Breaker( a mudo who is faster than the others). For those that don't know what a Mudo is, it's a zombie or as they call them in The Forests of Hands and Teeth the unconsecrated. After that night Catcher goes missing and Gabry promises his sister and her best friend(Cira) that she'll go back and look for him. When she goes back she meets Elias who helps her when she is swarmed by a lot of Mudo. Gabry's mother(Mary from The Forest of Hand and Teeth) goes back into the forest to look for the people she left behind and Gabry learns that Catcher is immune to the infection that causes one to turn into Mudo when bitten. Soon Gabry,Elias, Catcher, and Cira are in the Forest of Hand and Teeth on the run. Gabry is torn between her feelings for Catcher and Elias and learns the truth about her past in the forest in which she came from as a small child. If I write any more I'd give the whole book away so I'm gonna quit LOL! Go read it and I'm sure you'll like this book!

Rated 6/10
Things should be great for Janie—she has graduated from high school and is spending her summer with Cabel, the guy she's totally in love with. But deep down she's panicking about how she's going to survive her future when getting sucked into other people's dreams is really starting to take its toll.
Things get even more complicated when she meets her father for the very first time—and he's in a coma. As Janie uncovers his secret past, she begins to realize that the choice thought she had has more dire consequences than she ever imagined.

MY REVIEW
This is the third and final book in the Wake trilogy. It was an OK book, not the best or the worst I have read. The ending was pretty good but I had to force myself to read the first half. Out of all the books in this series the first was the best. It's the summer after she narked on the teachers at her high school who were drugging and raping students at parties they threw. She is vacationing with her boyfreind Cabel when she is called home because the father she never knew is in a coma and dying. Janie soon figures out he is a dream catcher as well by entering his dreams and that there is another option instead of losing her hands and eye sight. She soon realizes though that her other option may not be any better than her first option.

Rated 4/10

For Janie and Cabel, real life is getting tougher than the dreams. They’re just trying to carve out a little (secret) time together, but no such luck
Disturbing things are happening at Fieldridge High, yet nobody’s talking. When Janie taps into a classmate’s violent nightmares, the case finally breaks open – but nothing goes as planned. Not even close. Janie’s in way over her head, and Cabel’s shocking behavior has grave consequences for them both.
Worse yet, Janie learns the truth about herself and her ability – and it’s bleak. Seriously, brutally bleak. Not only is her fate as a dream catcher sealed, but what’s to come is way darker than she’d feared…
MY REVIEW
This is the second book in the Wake trilogy. I didn't really like this book all too much, it wasn't that it was terrible but to me it was boring in way too many places and seemed forced at times. Now I know a lot of people who read this book are gonna tell me different, but that just the way I feel about it.I've already checked out the third book, so I'll read it and see how it all ends, maybe I might like it more. Janie is in her senior year of high school and working as a nark with her boyfriend Cabel. They are assigned to work a case where they think there is a sexual predator at the school. Soon Janie comes to believe it is Mr. Durbin, her Chem teacher. She gets him to think she's in to him and at a party he throws for his students she learns the shocking truth of what is really happening. And learns how being a dream catcher is going to affect her health and future, for the better and the worse. Now all that being said most people are going to like this book,I suggest you read it and find out for yourself.

Wake by Lisa McMann

Rated 8/10

For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people’s dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie’s seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.
She can’t tell anybody about what she does – they’d never believe her, or worse, they’d think she’s a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn’t want and can’t control.

Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else’s twisted psyche. She is a participant…
MY REVIEW
This is the first book in the Wake trilogy. I liked this book, it was fast paced and an easy read. The story and writing style is kinda simple but it was really nice and the characters grew on me. I loved the fact there wasn't too much happening at once. Seventeen year old Janie lives at home with her mom on the poor side of town. Ever since she could remember since the age of eight years old she has been sucked into people's dreams not able to do anything but watch. Janie soons starts to like Cabel, a boy who's a year older and a giant mystery to her(she thinks he's selling drugs). Soon Janie is sucked into his dreams at school and grows closer to him. She learns about him and all his secrets and even how to control the dreams she are put into. Don't want to give it all away,if you're looking for something simple yet nice then this book is for you! I can't wait to start on the sequel!!!!

The five teenage Midnighters of Bixby, Oklahoma, thought they understood the secret midnight hour—until one morning when time freezes in the middle of the day.

As the Midnighters scramble for answers, they discover that the walls between the secret hour and real time are crumbling. Soon the dark creatures will break through to feed at last . . . unless these five teenagers can find a way to stop them.

MY REVIEW
This is the third and final book in the Midnighters trilogy.LOVED IT!!!!! I'm a lil sad now that I'm done reading them, they were really good books. Jessica got on my nerves throughout the whole series, though she was more selfish, whiny, and annoying in this book. After what happened at the end though I sort of felt sorry for her and those feelings toward her kinda melted away for me. In this book the rules are changing, something big is happening in Bixby and the surrounding areas. Blue time has started coming during the day and at unexpected hours. The Midnighters have no clue what's going on at first, but soon learn of the Darklings and their plans when the blue time will make them the top of the food chain again. Rex deals his new dark half and Jessica deals with her sister snooping around trying to find out why Jessica has been acting so strange. I don't really want to give to much away,so go read it now! If you haven't read the Midnighter's series then you really don't know what you're missing!

MY REVIEW
This is the second book in the Midnighters trilogy! It was awesome, this series is starting to grow on me. I'm gonna be sad when I finish reading the third and final book :(. Although I'm gonna say Jessica kind of got on my nerves just a lil in this book, that being said it's still an awesome book!! The plot is still original, fun, and fast paced. In the second book they find out there are daylight people who know about the secret hour and Midnighters, who are contacting the darklings. Dess discovers a Midnighter from an older generation(they had never met one before). She learns what happened to the older generations and that the Darklings want a Midnighter to make a halfing(half Midnighter, half darkling). Rex and Melissa get closer and Melissa learns how to deal with her gift.

I love this picture of the Midnighters, I just had to add it!! I don't own it and take no ownership or rights to it, I got it from here

Also loved this pic, got it from here .

MY REVIEW
This is the first book in the Midnighters trilogy. I happen to really like this book. It has an original plot, likeable characters, it was a fast and easy read. In the town of Bixby, Oklahoma there are two types of people, Daylight people and the Midnighters. The Midnighters are a speacial group of people who can move around at the 25th hour(there are 25 hours in this world) of the day at midnight for an hour while time and everyone but them are frozen . It's a time where creatures called darklings and slithers come out. One day a new girl named Jessica moves to town and learns of the Midnighters and their world when she is chased and almost killed by a darkling. There's something special about Jessica and the Darklings want her gone. I suggest this book to anyone who really loves to read

Jane Bites Back by Michael Thomas Ford

Author: Michael Thomas Ford
Reading level: Adult
 Publisher: Ballantine Books

Rated 9/10

Two hundred years after her death, Jane Austen is still surrounded by the literature she loves—but now it's because she's the owner of Flyleaf Books in a sleepy college town in Upstate New York. Every day she watches her novels fly off the shelves—along with dozens of unauthorized sequels, spin-offs, and adaptations. Jane may be undead, but her books have taken on a life of their own.
To make matters worse, the manuscript she finished just before being turned into a vampire has been rejected by publishers—116 times. Jane longs to let the world know who she is, but when a sudden twist of fate thrusts her back into the spotlight, she must hide her real identity—and fend off a dark man from her past while juggling two modern suitors. Will the inimitable Jane Austen be able to keep her cool in this comedy of manners, or will she show everyone what a woman with a sharp wit and an even sharper set of fangs can do?

MY REVIEW
I really liked this book, it was a fun, fast, and easy read. What if Jane Austen never died and is still around today as a vampire? It's exactly how I imagine Jane Austen would be if she were alive today. Anyone who loves a good vampire book will really like this one. Jane Fairfax aka Jane Austen is living in Brakeston, New York and owns her very own bookstore. She has finally got an offer to have her book Constance published after many rejections. Things seem to be going great until one day she the man who turned her into a vampire(Lord Byron) has come back and won't quit pestering her. She quickly falls for the nice guy in her town(Walter) and can't seem to tell him what she is and who she is.Things get worse when Charlotte Bronte tries to blackmail her by telling everyone she plagiarezed Constance. I'm already looking forward to reading  Jane Goes Batty to see what happens next.

Unwind by Neal Shusterman

Author: Neal Shusterman
Reading level: Young Adult
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing

Rated 10/10

Connor, Risa, and Lev are running for their lives.
The Second Civil War was fought over reproductive rights. The chilling resolution: Life is inviolable from the moment of conception until age thirteen. Between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, however, parents can have their child "unwound," whereby all of the child's organs are transplanted into different donors, so life doesn't technically end. Connor is too difficult for his parents to control. Risa, a ward of the state is not enough to be kept alive. And Lev is a tithe, a child conceived and raised to be unwound. Together, they may have a chance to escape—and to survive.
"Characters live and breathe; they are fully realized and complex, sometimes making wrenching difficult decisions. This is a thought-provoking, well-paced read that will appeal widely." —School Library Journal, starred review
"[A] gripping, brilliantly imagined futuristic thriller...could hardly be more engrossing or better aimed to teens." —Publishers Weekly, starred review
"[A] nail-biting, character-driven thriller." —Horn Book magazine
MY REVIEW
I absolutely love this book! The plot is original and there's never a dull part in this book, you will be hooked from the first page to the last page. The book kind of reflects the world today in a way and how we seem to view human life, which in itself it really scary. Some parts made me really uncomfortable, but not in a bad way. It takes part in the future, not too long after the Heartland War(the 2nd civil war in the United States),between pro life and pro choice people. They come to an agreement that ends the war and makes both parties happy. You can't abort a baby but when your child turns 13 you can send him or her to be unwound(basically like a different kind of abortion) til they turn 18(an adult) once their guardian signs the papers to be unwound their body becomes property of the government and all body parts are used and given to people who need them or want them. Therefore they are still technically living, just in different pieces. This story follows Connor, Risa, and Lev who have been signed over to be unwound. I'm not gonna give too much away here because it will take away from they story. I say if you want a good book that will stick with you after you're done reading it, then this book is for you.

The Everafter by Amy Huntley

Author: Amy Huntley
Reading level: Young Adult
Publisher: Balzer + Bray

Rated 9/10

Madison Stanton doesn’t know where she is or how she got there. But she does know this — she is dead. And alone, in a vast, dark space. The only company she has in this place are luminescent objects that turn out to be all the things Maddy lost while she was alive. And soon she discovers that with these artifacts, she can reexperience — and sometimes even change — moments from her life.
Her first kiss.
A trip to Disney World.

Her sister’s wedding.

A disastrous sleepover.

In reliving these moments, Maddy learns illuminating and sometimes frightening truths about her life — and death.

This is a haunting and ultimately hopeful novel about the beauty of even the most insignificant moments — and the strength of true love even beyond death.

MY REVIEW
I loved reading this book. It has an original plot and it was just unique to me. It made me think of my existence, and life and death. It's not your average ghost story by any means. Seventeen year old Madison is dead and in a place where there is nothing but the things she lost in life. Everytime she goes to an item it takes her back to a time in her life she lost that object. She has the choice to either enter her body and change her past by finding the object or standing outside her body and watching things fold out. It's very suprising how she died and never once did I guess that's how she died. That's also another thing I love about this book, it's anything but predictable,it's also a very fast read(took less than a day). I say if you're looking for a different, good type of book then this is one you should read.

Rated 8/10

SECRETS ARE AT HOME HERE . . .
The Heavenstone sisters live with their mother and father in a grand old mansion in bluegrass Kentucky. Semantha, the younger and prettier one, is afraid of so many things— darkness, strange noises, mysterious whispers in the night. But nothing frightens her more than her sister, Cassie. She is older and wiser, and always telling Semantha what to do, what to wear, and how to behave around those wicked boys at school. Semantha has her eye on one special guy—but Cassie has other plans for her. In the Heavenstone house, big sister knows best.

. . . AND THERE’S NO ESCAPE.

When tragedy strikes like a lightning bolt from heaven, Semantha’s life becomes a living hell. Under Cassie’s constant, watchful eye, she feels like a prisoner—a helpless pawn in her sister’s cruel game. When Cassie begins wearing their mother’s clothes and vying for their father’s affections, Semantha realizes she must bring their twisted sibling rivalry to an end . . . before a new generation is born.

MY REVIEW
This book was absolute trash and that's why I liked reading it LOL! It's to be expected really when you pick up a V.C. Andrews book written in the last ten years(she's been dead for a while but they still have other people writing as ghost writers using her name) I was in the mood for a trashy book and knew what I was getting into. I will admit sometimes trashy books are guilty pleasures of mine LOL!!!!! The book is a fast read and very predictable but it helped pass some time so I read it. Most books I hate, I hate because people make them out to be wonderful, in reality they really aren't. You don't get that with modern V.C. Andrews books, you know it's gonna be trashy the moment you pick it up! Semantha Heavanstone(and no I didn't misspell it,they wrote it like that all through the book) is a 9th grader who has a perfect older sister Cassie who bosses her around all the time. Semantha never really sticks up for herself, and her family is super rich. Her mother finds out she is pregnant with a son and so it sets things into motion with Cassie caring for her,but soon she has a miscarriage and dies herself not too long after. You get this weird feeling about Cassie because she love her dad a lil too much(made me a lil uncomfortable at times, don't worry there's no incest in this V.C.Andrews book)Basically Cassie is someone who does anything in her power to look perfect in her dad's eyes. She soon tries to take her mother's place from cooking to even dressing in her mom's old clothes, jewelry, and makeup after she dies. Read it for yourself if you want to know more(I left quite a bit out just for the fun of it).

Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause

Author: Annette Curtis Klause
Reading level: Young Adult
Publisher: Delacorte Books for Young Readers

Rated 8/10

The first cover is the one on the book I read, but I also love the newer cover(it's pretty) so I added it on here

Vivian Gandillon relishes the change, the sweet, fierce ache that carries her from girl to wolf. At sixteen, she is beautiful and strong, and all the young wolves are on her tail. But Vivian still grieves for her dead father; her pack remains leaderless and in disarray, and she feels lost in the suburbs of Maryland. She longs for a normal life. But what is normal for a werewolf?

Then Vivian falls in love with a human, a meat-boy. Aiden is kind and gentle, a welcome relief from the squabbling pack. He's fascinated by magic, and Vivian longs to reveal herself to him. Surely he would understand her and delight in the wonder of her dual nature, not fear her as an ordinary human would.

Vivian's divided loyalties are strained further when a brutal murder threatens to expose the pack. Moving between two worlds, she does not seem to belong in either. What is she really--human or beast? Which tastes sweeter--blood or chocolate?

My Review
I liked this book,it was a fast paced and interesting read(I read it in one night). For those females that love werewolves you'll like this.Vivian is a junior in high school living in a new town because the last place she lived they were targeted for being werewolves and their houses burned(that's how her father leader of the pack died)She's living with her mother and attending school where she meets Aiden(a human) and falls hard for him. She decides to show him her true self because she thinks they are in love. He freaks out and the next day she learns there has been a dead body found and she thinks it's her doing. I liked this book and it kinda made me feel for Vivian and what she went through after she tried to show the boy she loved her true form and he rejected her. I obviously didn't give too much away her cuz you'd probably love it more reading it for youself. I watched the movie today on youtube thinking that maybe it would be good like the book. It wasn't,just warning those who read the book and want to watch the movie. The movie totally destroys the plot of the book and sucks majorly!!!!

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

Aothor: Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Reading level: Young Adult
Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers

Rated 6/10

There were no surprises in Gatlin County.
We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere.

At least, that's what I thought.

Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong.

There was a curse.

There was a girl.

And in the end, there was a grave.

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.
In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

My Review
I thought it was an OK kinda book, nothing to get too much worked up about. The plot was original,at least I can say that. To me the book was boring in most places,I would have to quit reading and go do something else for a while til I could make myself read more later. There were some exciting parts,I give it that, but they were few and far inbetween for my taste. I was also annoyed by the fact that the writers didn't seem to know the south were the liberals during the revolutionary war and the first Republican president was the one in charge of the north. They went on about Ethan getting in trouble for some future liberal paper he might happen to write in the future so his history teacher made him argue on the side of pro slavery when they were doing a debate in history class. Liberals were all for pro slavery in the day so I don't know what the writers were thinking when they wrote that part. Ethan is 16 years old and has lived in Gatlin(that's in the south) his whole life where everything has basically stayed the same since the Revolutionary War in his eyes. His mother has died and he's left in the care of his nanny since birth(Amma) while his father stays up all night in his study and sleeps all day, only leaving to shower basically. He has weird dreams of himself and a girl he has never met that feels so real and keeps hearing the song sixteen moons. One day while at school he learns there is a new girl(Lena) that he's instantly drawn to. They get to know each other and soon he realizes she's the girl from his dreams and a girl like nobody he's ever met. Lena is a caster(someone with powers) who is scared of her sixteenth birthday in which fate will decide whether she is good or evil. That's basically all I'm giving away. Have fun reading it,if you can!
