Gabry lives a quiet life. As safe a life as is possible in a town trapped between a forest and the ocean, in a world teeming with the dead, who constantly hunger for those still living. She's content on her side of the Barrier, happy to let her friends dream of the Dark City up the coast while she watches from the top of her lighthouse. But there are threats the Barrier cannot hold back. Threats like the secrets Gabry's mother thought she left behind when she escaped from the Sisterhood and the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Like the cult of religious zealots who worship the dead. Like the stranger from the forest who seems to know Gabry. And suddenly, everything is changing. One reckless moment, and half of Gabry's generation is dead, the other half imprisoned. Now Gabry only knows one thing: she must face the forest of her mother's past in order to save herself and the one she loves.

MY REVIEW
This is the companion novel to The Forests of Hands and Teeth. I really like this book, it was full of action,a lil romance and lots of zombies!!! I didn't like it as much as The Forests and Hands and Teeth(that's now one of my favorite books) but it's still a really good read. A night of Gabry and her friends going over the protection of the barrier and breaking the law results in the death and punishments of her friends. Gabry gets away and escapes punishment after the boy(Catcher) she likes is bitten by a Breaker( a mudo who is faster than the others). For those that don't know what a Mudo is, it's a zombie or as they call them in The Forests of Hands and Teeth the unconsecrated. After that night Catcher goes missing and Gabry promises his sister and her best friend(Cira) that she'll go back and look for him. When she goes back she meets Elias who helps her when she is swarmed by a lot of Mudo. Gabry's mother(Mary from The Forest of Hand and Teeth) goes back into the forest to look for the people she left behind and Gabry learns that Catcher is immune to the infection that causes one to turn into Mudo when bitten. Soon Gabry,Elias, Catcher, and Cira are in the Forest of Hand and Teeth on the run. Gabry is torn between her feelings for Catcher and Elias and learns the truth about her past in the forest in which she came from as a small child. If I write any more I'd give the whole book away so I'm gonna quit LOL! Go read it and I'm sure you'll like this book!
