This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen

Author: Sarah Dessen
Reading level: Young Adult
Publisher: Puffin Books

Rated 9/10
Raised by a mother who's had five husbands, eighteen-year-old Remy believes in short-term, no-commitment relationships until she meets Dexter, a rock band musician.

MY REVIEW
This is a good book, this is the 5th book I have read by Sarah Dessen and she amazes me with every book. Her books are filled with love, heartbreak, and realness that most other books never seem to possess. I'm not gonna lie Remy got on my nerves a lot with how she treated people but Dexter made the book what it was for me and worth reading. I'm sure most of us dream of a guy like Dexter :). Remy has just graduated from high school and plans to get as far away from her present life as possible. All Remy's life she has never seen true love, her mother marries someone and divorces not too long after, and has started on her fifth marriage to Don. It doesn't help that all she has left of her own father is the song he wrote for her that says he let her down. Remy goes through guys quickly and calls them her seasonal boyfriends, she even has a routine on how to dump them. Then one day she meets Dexter and he pursues her with a passion. When she finally gives in she sees that he's different than any other guy she has ever dated, and she don't know quite how to handle it.

And then there is James, hopelessly in love with Rhiannon, who can't see that their friendship can be so much more. Just when things couldn't get more complicated, the school's resident mean girl decides she is intent on ruining everyone's life. James, Nicole, and Rhiannon are not going to let this slide, but will their desire to take down the mean girl bring these three friends exactly what they want?
MY REVIEW
I really liked this book, it was a fast read for me, I read it in less then a day. I love how you get the whole story from three different points of view, and without each view from all three characters then the story would be incomplete. The story is told through the eyes through Rhiannin, James, and Nicole, all are best friends living in New York attending the same high school. The story takes place in only one week. Rhiannin and her boyfriend Steve just broke and up Steve gave her no reason why. Rhiannin thought things were going great and that they were in love and is devestated. She does everything she can think of to get him back. Come to find out though he's dating her enemy Gloria, a really beautiful mean girl. Then there's James, Rhinannin is his best friend and he can't stand the way Steve just up and dumped her. He tries to convince her he's no good and to move on. James is really protective of Rhinannin when it comes to guys he thinks are not good enough for her. He gets really angry though when he buys her a guft and she doesn't even realize it's from him, he gets tired of chasing after her and figures it's time for her to come to him. James wishes for the day when he has a lot of money so he can have a huge place, he's sick and tired of the small apartment he shares with his family because he nevers has a mintue to himself there.Nicole has just dumped Danny, her first real boyfriend for reasons she doesn't even know herself. Even though they stay friends she finds it hard. She develops a crush on her math teacher Mr. Farrel and thinks he feels the same way towards her. Nicole keeps having memories of her past, which her friends don't know about and a past she would rather foget. This a great book about love and friendship and I really enjoyed it, I would suggest it to anyone looking for a good book.

Rated 7/10

On Solange’s sixteenth birthday, she is going to wake up dead. As if that’s not bad enough, she also has to outwit her seven overprotective older brothers, avoid the politics involved with being the only daughter born to an ancient vampire dynasty, and elude Kieran Black—agent of an anti-vampire league who is searching for his father’s killer and is intent on staking Solange and her entire family.

Luckily she has her own secret weapon—her human best friend Lucy—who is willing to defend Solange’s right to a normal life, whether she’s being smothered by her well-intentioned brothers or abducted by a power-hungry queen. Two unlikely alliances are formed in a race to save Solange’s eternal life—Lucy and Solange’s brother Nicholas, and Solange and Kieran Black—in a dual romance that is guaranteed to jump start any romance-lover’s heart.
Even fans of the genre who’ve seen it all will find a fresh read with kick-butt characters and family dynamics that ring true for all brothers and sisters—vampire or otherwise.
MY REVIEW
This is the first book in The Drake Chronicles. It was an OK book, I liked it but I also felt it could have been so much better. It's a pretty fast paced book,I read it in less than a day. Solange and Lucy are best friends, only that Solange is the first female offspring of an ancient vampire family and Lucy is a human. Solange has to be careful because she's starting to give off a pheromone that makes male vampires want her. And now that's she's about to turn 16 and into a full fledged vampire, the head female vampire Lady Natasha wants her dead so she doesn't fulfill the phophecy and take the throne. Lucy and Solange's older brother Nicholas, have always picked at each other and fought. Now Lucy has new and strange feelings towards him and can't help but think he feels the same way. One night a Helios-Ra agent(vampire hunter),Kieran, tries to kill Solange and a bounty is put up for her death. Her parents are furious and try to get to the bottom of it,but one night when they are gone Solange is called to meet with Lady Natasha. Her and some of her brothers go only to be ambushed later by vampires and rogue Helios-Ra angents. Soon she is freed by Kieran and they are on the run.Lucy and her Solange's family are worried because in two days Solange will be 16 and without the blood of one of her family member she will die. Most people will like this book, especially people who love romance and vampire books.

For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people’s dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie’s seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.
She can’t tell anybody about what she does – they’d never believe her, or worse, they’d think she’s a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn’t want and can’t control.

Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else’s twisted psyche. She is a participant…
MY REVIEW
This is the first book in the Wake trilogy. I liked this book, it was fast paced and an easy read. The story and writing style is kinda simple but it was really nice and the characters grew on me. I loved the fact there wasn't too much happening at once. Seventeen year old Janie lives at home with her mom on the poor side of town. Ever since she could remember since the age of eight years old she has been sucked into people's dreams not able to do anything but watch. Janie soons starts to like Cabel, a boy who's a year older and a giant mystery to her(she thinks he's selling drugs). Soon Janie is sucked into his dreams at school and grows closer to him. She learns about him and all his secrets and even how to control the dreams she are put into. Don't want to give it all away,if you're looking for something simple yet nice then this book is for you! I can't wait to start on the sequel!!!!

Fallen by Lauren Kate

Author: Lauren Kate
Reading level: Young Adult
Publisher: Delacorte Books for Young Readers

Rated 9/10

Seventeen-Year-Old Luce is a new student at Sword & Cross, an unwelcoming boarding/reform school in Savannah, Georgia. Luce’s boyfriend died under suspicious circumstances, and now she carries the guilt over his death with her as she navigates the unfriendly halls at Sword & Cross, WHERE every student seems to have an unpleasant—even evil—history.
It’s only when she sees Daniel, a gorgeous fellow student, that Luce feels there’s a reason to be here—though she doesn’t know what it is. And Daniel’s frosty cold demeanor toward her? It’s really a protective device that he’s used again . . . and again. For Daniel is a fallen angel, doomed to fall in love with the same girl every 17 years . . . and watch her die. And Luce is a fellow immortal, cursed to be reincarnated again and again as a mortal girl who has no idea of who she really is.

MY REVIEW
This is the first book in the Fallen series(I have to wait til September 2010 for the next book aaaahhhhh!!!) and I really liked this book quite a bit. It's a different twist on a love story with angels thrown in there. It starts off with 17 year old Luce being sent to reform school as ordered by the court for what happened to a school boy she liked(read the book and you'll find out what she did) She quickly makes friends and enemies at this school full of society rejects. Before her first class on her first day of school Luce sees a guy(Daniel) she is attracted to more than anyone else she has ever seen. As she is staring at him she thinks he smiles but before she is too sure she flips her off leaving her stunned. During the whole book Luce tries to get to know Daniel and feels a strong connection she can't explain to him(but he treats her like a stalker and is cold and hot to her throughout the entire book). During the whole story she also has a guy by the name of Cam chasing her for her attention. Luce finds there is more to this world than what meets the eyes and that not everyone is who they seem. I defiantly say read this book(And I think I did a pretty good job at not giving too much away here lol)Basically if you like love stories and with fantasy thrown in there this book is for you. I can honestly see why there is a lot of hype surrounding this book

Love Finds A Way-Rachelle Edwards

Miss Allegra Montescue is furious when Lord Crandon announces his plan to wed her sister. Ravishing looks aside, the man is insufferably arrogant and Allegra fears he can love no one but himself. But when Lord Crandon steals a kiss from Allegra, aversion quickly melts in passion's fiery flames. . . .

MY REVIEW
One of those cheesy romance novels. And I'm not afraid to admit I liked it.It's one of those books that there are two main characters(a man and a woman) they are desperatley madly in love with each other secretly, while thinking the other hates them.I swear with every cheesy romance novel I read it's the same but I can't help but to read and like them.I know they aren't a great work of literature but they sure are fun to read in an embarassing kind of way(we all know what's in them*BLUSHING*)It was well worth the quarter I spent to buy it.I know I need a love life LOL!!!!!!!
